I’ve gone from surviving to thriving by aligning with Mother Nature and her bountiful healing powers. From eating whole, nutrient-dense foods, to reducing my chemical burden, to completely cutting out synthetic drugs, I’ve been able to provide my body with all that it needs to truly thrive. I encourage everyone to take steps towards connecting with what nature provides for us–especially when it comes to immune support! Medications may treat symptoms, but at what cost? Nature beautifully provides us with all that we need to heal!

Here are the six things I can’t live without during cold and flu season:


Four Sigmatic Chaga Elixir: Chaga is a medicinal mushroom. Often called the King of Mushrooms, chaga is high in antioxidants and has been shown to support increased immune function. The Four Sigmatic brand takes their shrooms very seriously–harvesting from organic sources and dual-extracted to guarantee the most bio-availability of the mushrooms’ healing properties.

Oil of Oregano: A powerful antimicrobial, oregano oil aids in fighting off viral and bacterial infections. I prefer it in capsule form, and start taking 1-2 capsules a day whenever I feel something coming on, and continue until symptoms have passed. Be cautious not to use it regularly as the antimicrobial properties may eventually reduce essential bacteria in the gut.

Echinacea: This medicinal flower has been used for hundreds of years. Not only does it help to reduce the duration of colds, but it also reduces the chances of catching one. If anyone around me gets sick, I immediately turn to daily cups of echinacea tea!

Bone Broth: There’s a reason we’ve been told to drink soup when we’re under the weather. Bone broth is an age-old healing staple in countless cultures–and for good reason! Bone broth is rich in minerals and nutrients that support our immune system (and beyond). Keep in mind that collagen, one of the most beneficial components of bone broth, forms a gelatinous texture when chilled. Homemade broth (made with bones, ligaments, joints, meat, etc.) provides for the richest collagen content!

Elderberry Syrup: Yet another medicinal plant, elderberry has been used in cultures for thousands of years. Studies have shown that elderberry helps to reduce the duration of colds and flus. I start taking elderberry syrup at the first signs of sickness.

Colloidal Silver: Another potent antimicrobial, silver has been used to prevent the spread of disease throughout history. Colloidal silver is effective in combating colds, flus, sinus infections, bronchitis, and even pneumonia. Along with fighting illness, it can also be used to prevent colds and flus. I simply ingest it when someone around me is sick or I begin feeling symptoms. Make sure to only ingest colloidal silver for no more than 12 days in a row.

Along with the above I always do my best to get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, get my daily dose of vitamin D (through direct sunlight at peak hours for about 15 minutes), eat plenty of nutrient-dense foods, drink lots of tea, diffuse essential oils, and sleep with my humidifier on.
